About The Position

Responsible for supporting safe, high-quality patient care and assisting with clinical and operational activities in the operating room environment. Supports a patient- and family-centered care environment through professional, courteous interactions with patients, families, and hospital staff. Provides orientation and general information to patients, visitors, and families regarding hospital services and unit procedures. Maintains knowledge of hospital departments, procedural areas, and available patient services to assist patients and visitors effectively. Directs patients, families, and visitors to appropriate resources and services as needed. Independently transports patients and assists with patient transfers while following established safety protocols. Verifies patient identity using two approved patient identifiers. Ensures patient safety and comfort during transport and transfers by utilizing appropriate safety measures, such as raised bedrails and adequate patient coverage. Follows established precautions and procedures when transporting patients with special safety or isolation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care Experience 0-1 year required
  • Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies.
  • Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with other health care members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
  • Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of O.R. schedule to meet tight deadlines.
