About The Position

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs various non-nursing duties in the surgical unit. This is a full-time position with evening shifts, 8 hours per day, at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Required
3+ years to 5 years of relevant experience Required
Ability to read, write and understand the English language
Detail oriented
Strong Organizational skills
Ability to anticipate and change with the environment as needed
Ability to maintain the physical demands of the job, push/pull heavy equipment - 50lbs
Knowledge of safety, quality and joint commission standards as it relates to the department
Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.

Nice To Haves

Trains new staff members
Cross trains to other services i.e. Anesthesia, GI, picking cases
Trainer Certification for Surgical Technicians (CSCT) AHE required.

Responsibilities

Assures linen is adequately stocked in warmers daily
Maintains and records all temperature logs per department process and policy
Prepares gurneys and beds as needed for operating rooms
Organization of equipment room
Delivers specimens to laboratory in a timely manner
Assists with cleaning operating rooms at completion of each case in accordance with Infection Control guidelines
Assists with inter-operative patient positioning
Maintain adequate stock of all PPE at OR entrances and throughout unit
Participates in gathering and putting away equipment and supplies as necessary
Safely transports patients to and from the surgical suite as requested
May assist with picking cases and assembling case carts for future cases
Proactively assists with turnover including managing OR equipment and assisting with room turnover to ensure fluid running of department
Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital.
