About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking one or more Operating Maintenance Technicians to join their team at the Maple Grove Service Center in Maple Grove, MN. This position is responsible for the on-going operations and maintenance of Xcel Energy's buildings in the Metro West region. The role may require travel to other sites within the Metro West service territory. The shift hours are from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, and the position requires availability for emergency call-out and overtime assignments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Currently a Journeyman Technician or five years of operating experience combined with equivalent coursework or competency card.
• Possession of a 2nd class "C" Boiler license or higher.
• Universal CFC certification.
• Proficient in BAS (Building Automation Systems) and have proficiency in related BAS and Microsoft Office systems.
• High mechanical aptitude and high level of learning ability to maintain proficient understanding of various types of building systems.
• Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
• Ability to lift sixty (60) pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and DX rooftop units.
• Experience with building automation, fire life safety systems, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, such as Maximo.

Responsibilities

• On-going operations and maintenance of Xcel Energy's buildings in the Metro West region.
• Maintenance and repair tasks such as welding and brazing, sheet metal repair and installation, electric and electronic troubleshooting, proper and safe use of chemicals, equipment installation and repair (motors, bearing shafts, etc.), and various structural and building repairs (garage doors, minor roof repairs).
• Proficient working knowledge of heating systems (boilers, steam and hydronic, gas fired rooftops, heat pump systems, etc.).
• Proficient working knowledge of cooling systems (chillers, rooftops, and others).
• Proficient working knowledge of fire/life safety systems.
• Proficient working knowledge of UPS/generator/battery systems.
• Performing work from ladders, scaffolding and in high and confined areas.
