About The Position

Birla Carbon Canada Ltd. is seeking a full-time 2nd or 3rd Class Operating Engineer for its first-class plant. The role involves the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of plant services and related operational equipment within a 24/7 Petro Chemical manufacturing environment. Requirements

• 2nd or 3rd Class Operating Engineering designation is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the carbon black manufacturing industry.
• Strong foundation in operating engineering equipment.
• Excellent plant services engineering and process knowledge.
• Knowledge and experience with DCS control systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform physical labour.
• Ability to operate basic mechanical tools safely and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with a 24/7 continuous process operation is an asset.
• Keen understanding of carbon black chemical manufacturing processes and operations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, monitor and operate boilers, air compressors, turbines, steam condensers, air dryers, turbo generators, fan pumps, and other relevant plant services equipment.
• Maintain the integrity of plant services equipment by correcting and following up on all equipment failures in a timely manner.
• Adjust various control parameters (e.g. temperature, pressure, flow rates, water levels) using computerized control systems to ensure efficient operation of plant services equipment.
• Complete all log entries, records and report accurately and on-time.
• Ensure plant services equipment operates in compliance with internal procedures, all applicable legislation, and consistent with internal customer commitments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Engineer or their designate.
