About The Position

As a Building Engineer at JLL, you'll be the technical backbone of our facility operations, ensuring optimal performance and tenant satisfaction across our commercial properties. This hands-on role combines expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems to maintain safe, efficient, and comfortable environments for our clients. You'll work as part of a collaborative operations team, leveraging both your technical skills and customer service excellence to solve problems proactively and respond to facility needs with precision. Your contributions directly impact building performance, tenant experience, and JLL's reputation for delivering world-class facility management services.

Requirements

  • Valid Tennessee Driver's License with ability to arrive on site within 45 minutes for emergency response.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Universal CFC certification; electrical and/or plumbing technician certification.
  • 4-6 years of technical experience in commercial building engineering with demonstrated expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and controls.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and push equipment weighing 50 pounds or more; ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, and working on various surfaces.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), CMMS platforms, and smartphone/computer operation with multiple email accounts.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Additional licenses or certifications as required by local jurisdiction.
  • Experience with specific building automation systems and control platforms.
  • Background in customer facing facility management roles within commercial real estate environments.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations specific to facility operations.
  • Proven track record of effective verbal and written communication in technical settings.
  • Hands on proficiency with commercial HVAC systems including pumps, motors, air handlers, and automation/controls using industry standard tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing as an effective team member.
  • Experience with special projects including painting, pressure washing, and tenant improvement coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems including chillers, compressors, cooling towers, and building automation systems.
  • Monitor BAS systems and respond to alarms.
  • Conduct scheduled facility rounds to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Manage work orders through the CMMS platform to ensure timely completion.
  • Handle repairs ranging from plumbing fixtures and electrical components to ceiling tiles and drywall.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of all activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to tenants.
  • Coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs.
  • Respond to after hours emergencies as part of an on call rotation.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and ensure minimal disruption to building operations.
