About The Position

The Operating Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and reliability of facility systems across our commercial properties. This position requires a technically skilled professional who will operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex building equipment including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. You will demonstrate mastery in at least one craft area while applying multi-skilled capabilities across various building systems to maintain optimal facility performance. This role is essential to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services and ensuring our clients' properties operate at peak efficiency and safety standards.

Requirements

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification demonstrating comprehensive refrigerant handling expertise across all system types
  • Two years of formal trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC technologies
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order tracking and maintenance documentation
  • Multi-craft skills across multiple building systems demonstrating versatility and technical breadth
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and controls for enhanced system monitoring and optimization

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, fire, and life safety systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards and optimal facility performance
  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at peak performance levels
  • Monitor equipment operations by recording readings, making necessary adjustments, and identifying potential issues before they escalate into major problems
  • Manage facility services responsibilities including purchasing, inventory control, contractor oversight, and technical maintenance coordination
  • Perform periodic inspections of tools and instrument inventory to ensure availability and proper condition of maintenance equipment
  • Oversee and evaluate the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality standards
  • Maintain compliance with departmental safety policies for the storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while ensuring a clean and safe workplace environment
