About The Position

As an Operating Engineer at JLL, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of building systems that keep our facilities running smoothly. In this hands-on position, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems while delivering exceptional service to building occupants. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced building automation systems, apply your technical expertise across multiple disciplines, and contribute directly to creating safe, comfortable environments that support JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in electrical trade OR HVAC/refrigeration trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work safely with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in various facility environments
  • Physical capability to perform frequent walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, lifting, and overhead work

Nice To Haves

  • Universal Technician Certification for CFCs (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Trade school education or certification in HVAC, electrical, or related technical field
  • Experience working with computer-controlled building automation systems and energy management platforms
  • Working knowledge of thermodynamic principles, electrical theory, and mechanical systems operation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain facility systems safely in accordance with all government and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
  • Monitor equipment performance, record operational readings, and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal system efficiency
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer service requests and emergency situations throughout the facility
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment
  • Coordinate with outside contractors, monitor work quality and pricing, and ensure project completion standards are met
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, and assist with incident investigations as required
