About The Position

As an Operating Engineer specializing in hydronic boiler and chiller operations, you will be the technical expert ensuring seamless operation of critical facility systems that power JLL's commercial properties. This role combines advanced mechanical expertise with powerhouse operations to maintain optimal performance of boilers, chillers, pumps, and associated equipment. Your technical skills in welding, vibration analysis, and system diagnostics will directly contribute to maximizing equipment reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the safety standards that define JLL's commitment to operational excellence across our diverse portfolio of commercial facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 5 years of experience operating hydronic boiler and chiller systems
  • State or local boiler operator license and EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment
  • Proficiency in welding, pipefitting, pump/motor repair and rebuild, and mechanical alignment techniques
  • Ability to analyze complex commercial/industrial systems, diagnose problems, and implement corrective solutions
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS systems
  • Physical capability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays in various industrial conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or trade school certification in mechanical, electrical, or HVAC technology
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis tools, cooling tower operations, and wastewater treatment systems
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification with strong understanding of safety protocols and hazard recognition
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with EPA regulations, environmental compliance practices, and regulatory documentation requirements

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain hydronic boiler and chiller systems while recording readings and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on pumps, motors, valves, and rotating equipment using vibration analysis and mechanical alignment techniques
  • Execute preventive maintenance routines on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and control systems with comprehensive documentation in CMMS systems
  • Conduct welding, fabrication, and pipefitting tasks for system maintenance while maintaining cooling towers and wastewater treatment systems
  • Troubleshoot system malfunctions, respond to alarms promptly, and perform corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operations
  • Ensure EPA regulatory compliance and environmental standards while safely storing, using, and disposing of hazardous materials
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and safety teams while managing facility services, inventory control, and contracted maintenance activities
