About The Position

JLL is seeking a skilled Operating Engineer to join our facilities team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all building systems through expert maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining complex facility equipment across multiple systems, with a strong technical foundation in one craft area and multi-skilled capabilities in others. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant facilities that support JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems
  • EPA 608 Type II Certification
  • Ability to analyze the operation of various commercial or industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and lay as required to access equipment components for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, cold, during daylight and night-time hours

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Two years of trade school training in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
  • Professional certifications in one or more technical skill areas
  • Experience working in multi-building campus environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to maintain facility and building systems to applicable standards
  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency
  • Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts on HVAC systems and associated equipment to maintain optimum performance levels
  • Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of all equipment
  • Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace
  • Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory
  • Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors
