About The Position

Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000 Pay Range: $35.69/hr. to $51.06/hr. Operates and maintains physical plant equipment on specified shift assignments. Performs special assignments on complex electrical and mechanical equipment. Assists in training of operating engineers on mechanical, electrical and building management systems in use throughout all properties. Under limited supervision, and on own initiative, evaluates and implements corrective measures to return malfunctioning equipment, and systems to specified standards.

Requirements

  • If hired prior to March 1, 2020: (10+) years of experience as an operating engineer in a hospital environment OR possesses an Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrical (LME) license with (5+) years of experience as an operating engineer in a hospital or similar type of facility.
  • If hired after March 1, 2020: (5+) years of experience as an operating engineer in a hospital environment (or similar type of facility) and possesses an Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrical (LME) license.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for a least four (4) years.
  • Demonstrable skills in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and plant systems analysis.
  • Undertakes continuing education, and on-the-job training programs in the operating engineer disciplines If hired without an LME the employee shall enroll in an LME program and be working toward completion of the LME within a three (3) year period.
  • Works any shift assignments as assigned, including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrates proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee's job.
  • Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely operate all equipment in the steam plant.
  • Exhibits knowledge of and the ability to operate all HVAC and ventilating equipment.
  • Completes all required documentation logs and forms.
  • Illustrates ability to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Recognizes own limitations and seeks guidance appropriately.
  • Functions as a cooperative, flexible team member in a positive manner utilizing good communication skills.
  • Uses effective working relationships with all healthcare team players, patients, and significant others.
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills using lines of authority appropriately.
  • Drives a company owned vehicle as part of their job and is considered a Category A driver.
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record which is defined as: no more than one (1) accident or moving violation on or off the job within the past 12 months, and no conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) within the past five (5) years.
  • This employee must complete a defensive driving course within the first 90 days of employment.
