About The Position

Under the direction of the production supervisor, the M operator may be called upon to use all sorts of heavy machinery on the Stablex site, including confined spaces for the type of equipment. These include roll-off trucks, to transport boxes/containers containing hazardous waste according to operational needs and priorities. 12-wheel "dump" trucks to transport Stablex to the site. Front-end loaders to move waste. Excavators to empty or mix preparation basins. In addition, they may be required to use other equipment such as street sweepers, water tankers, and others.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (DES) or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of work experience.
  • Knowledge of truck driving and manual transmissions.
  • Possess a Class 3 driver's license.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Knowledge and mastery of all plant rolling machinery through internal training and internships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection and requested maintenance of vehicles used.
  • Keep rolling equipment and work environment clean and safe.
  • Refuel vehicle according to directives.
  • Perform a personal handover with the colleague from the other shift at the beginning and end of the shift.
  • Drive/operate all machinery or vehicles required for the general machinery operator positions.
  • Complete forms related to tasks.
  • Complete timesheet.
  • Clean safety equipment (PPE).
  • Clean work area and maintain assigned areas.
  • Create work requests for container damage.
  • Create work requests for mechanical breakdowns.
  • Complete an event report for breakdowns, accidents, or abnormal incidents.
  • Perform regeneration of equipment as required (excavator, roll-off, 12-wheel).
  • Take charge of unloading raw material arriving by pneumatic truck.
  • Train other M operators.
  • Communicate with the machinery coordinator to validate assigned tasks.
  • Print and review the route sheet for each box handled.
  • Load, move, and deposit trans-rollable boxes around the plant (containers).
  • Load and deposit trans-rollable boxes on container supports.
  • Take charge of centrifuge and dust collector containers when requested.
  • Remove/replace the canvas of trans-rollable boxes as needed.
  • Prepare boxes for unloading or use.
  • Unload requested boxes into the basin.
  • Communicate safety instructions on route sheets to other involved employees.
  • Perform required snow removal of boxes and work areas.
  • Wash boxes.
  • Take emptied and washed boxes to the empty box yard.
  • Sample a box at the un-canvassing rack.
  • Verify the tailgate and hooks of the dump body before filling.
  • Back up to the production scale in a tight space.
  • Load truck on the production scale.
  • Interpret the light system and weight indicator of the production scale.
  • Transport Stablex from the plant to the landfill site.
  • Back the truck up to the casting belt.
  • Operate the dump body tipping system with the cabin controls.
  • Empty the contents of the dump body on site.
  • Wash the rear of the dump body after each unloading.
  • Inform the control room coordinator of a 12-wheel change.
  • Take a sample from each F basin.
  • Perform the spreading test for each F basin.
  • Complete documentation and take samples to the laboratory.
  • Pick up sand from the site.
  • Have the dump body cleaned when a "dirty" message is received.
  • Scrape by shovel or at the pit.
  • Distribute inventory forms into the mailboxes of the solid area and warehouse doors.
  • Place inventory forms in the plant's and EMF's loader bins.
  • Verify that the inventory of the islands matches the theoretical inventory.
  • Empty the alkali enclosure and the pit in the liquid sector.
  • Operate and calibrate the loader's electronic scale.
  • Load basins with quantities of residue or material from different islands.
  • Maintain the ground of circulation areas clean (without any residue).
  • Spread sand/absorbent in areas defined by the machinery coordinator.
  • Move bulk solid residue arrivals using the loader.
  • Sample unloaded residues.
  • Take samples to the laboratory.
  • Take air quality measurements and adjust sector cabinets based on calculated measurements.
  • Operate/supply the lime paste mixer.
  • Empty shredders.
  • Clear snow from doors and around the plant.
  • May be called upon to use the pumping tanker.
  • May be called upon to use the water tanker.
  • May be called upon to use the mechanical broom.
  • May be called upon to use the yard tractor.
  • May be called upon to use the Hyster Hydroseeder.
  • Check wind direction at the start of and throughout the shift.
  • Prepare spraying operation at the start of the day shift.
  • Prepare clay.
  • Validate clay texture/viscosity.
  • Fill the hydroseeder.
  • Perform clay spraying directly on the Stablex during unloading when criteria require it.
  • Perform complete spraying of the mats used during the day at the end of the evening shift.
  • Perform complete site coverage on Friday.
  • Use equipment required for the task: 2 hydroseeders, an excavator, the shunter truck for the trailer hydroseeder, the water tanker.
  • Maintain the required clay level at the mixing station.
  • Communicate with the podium excavator operator to adjust the consistency of the F basins.
  • Empty and rinse the hydroseeder.
  • Fill the neutralizer tank of each hydroseeder as needed.
  • Communicate with the machinery coordinator and be available for other tasks when winds shift away from the neighborhood.
  • Request confirmation from the control room coordinator if Basin 1 is full before loading Basin F with the excavator.
  • Mix Basin 1 with the excavator to make it as homogeneous as possible.
  • Communicate with the control room during the loading of Basin F to add cementitious or specific material.
  • Homogenize Basin F.
  • Safely allow the 12-wheel driver to take a sample from the excavator bucket.
  • Use the production scale's light system and weight indicator.
  • Inform the 12-wheel driver if it is necessary to scrape their dump body.
  • Load 12-wheel trucks in 2 sequences for specified basins with the DC-1425 process.
  • Mix the basin upon request from the control room coordinator in case of LEL detection in Basin 1.
  • Install and use the trimac for crushing.
  • Remove and install the bucket/forks and replace them in their specific locations.
  • Operate tracked and wheeled excavators.
  • Transfer residue from a roll-off box.
  • Scrape roll-off boxes or truck dump bodies.
  • Mix boxes for a new sample.
  • Mix the cyanide box.
  • Mix the deactivation boxes.
  • Empty or transfer basins.
  • Respect formulation sheets and mixing times.
  • Respect PPE specified in the formulation and for the residue placed in the basin.
  • Mix the basin upon request from the control room coordinator in case of LEL detection in the basin.
  • Sample basins.
  • Install and remove trailer safety supports.
  • Install and remove trailer wheel chocks.
  • Move and park trailers.
  • Set down trailers on their legs and install a floor damper under the legs (yellow pad).
  • Ensure doors are closed when trailers are full.
  • Ensure the trailer is straight and close to the dock once backed up.
  • Weigh customer trailers when specified (orange placards, not green).
  • Remove TDG placards once the trailer is empty.
  • Install the correct placards on the trailer as needed.
  • Unload dump body bi-trains.
  • Perform any other related tasks that may fall under this job upon request.
