About The Position

Operates one or several types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. May repair and maintain equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• Minimum of two years directly applicable experience operating heavy equipment on a work team Required
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with CDL(A) endorsement Required

Responsibilities

• Operates motor equipment, dump trucks, skid steers, excavators, bulldozers, etc.
• Loads and moves dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, towmotors, or related equipment.
• Works as one of a construction or maintenance crew doing a variety of duties.
• Carries out work orders assigned to work crew.
• Takes actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
• Checks fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
• Refuels equipment using fuel credit card and reconciles expenses to receipts daily.
• Establishes and maintains working relationships with others.
• Learns and follows safety regulations.
