About The Position

The OpenShift Virtualization Platform Engineer builds, configures, and operates the target virtualization environment for a VMware-to-OpenShift Virtualization migration program. The engineer ensures Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KubeVirt are configured, stable, and ready to receive, run, and recover migrated virtual machines. The role participates in platform foundation work, pilot migration, all migration waves, hypercare, and operational handover. It works with migration, network, storage, and observability teams and maintains platform configuration documentation and operational procedures.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift.
Experience with OpenShift Virtualization and KubeVirt.
Knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and administration.
Experience with RBAC, namespaces, node placement, and workload management.
Understanding of YAML-based configuration and Kubernetes operators.
Experience configuring VM templates and instance types.
Knowledge of VM live migration and associated policies.
Troubleshooting skills for OpenShift clusters and VM runtime issues.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
Configure and manage Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) operators.
Configure namespaces, role-based access control (RBAC), and node placement.
Configure virtual machine templates, instance types, and KubeVirt settings.
Implement and maintain live-migration policies.
Troubleshoot OpenShift cluster issues and virtual machine runtime failures.
Validate platform readiness, capacity, and stability before migration waves.
Support migration pilots, production migration waves, and hypercare.
Collaborate with migration, network, storage, and observability teams.
Maintain platform configuration documentation and operational procedures.
Participate in platform foundation, pilot migration, migration waves, hypercare, and operational handover.
