About The Position

Guidehouse is seeking an Open-Source Research Analyst specializing in China, requiring Mandarin Chinese proficiency. This role involves analyzing various information sources to assess international corporate structures, supply chains, and commercial risks. The analyst will conduct open-source research in both English and Mandarin Chinese, synthesize data, and produce clear, well-supported industry and entity assessments. Key responsibilities include developing research-based recommendations, presenting analytic findings to government clients and senior leadership, preparing written reports and briefings for federal stakeholders, monitoring geopolitical and economic developments, and collaborating with internal colleagues and interagency partners.

Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • ONE (1) or more years of experience with data collection, research methodologies, or intelligence-style analysis. Internships and academic research are acceptable.
  • Advanced Mandarin Chinese reading proficiency sufficient to independently evaluate original Chinese language materials.
  • Ability to translate or summarize Chinese language information into clear English analytical products.

Nice To Haves

  • Research experience in one or more of the following topics: corporate information, sector specific analysis (energy, agriculture, manufacturing, chemicals, etc.), international trade, supply chains, or human rights/ESG issues.
  • Experience conducting open source research (OSINT), preferably related to China, global supply chains, or international commerce.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as supply chain mapping software, data processing tools, or public records research platforms.
  • Experience with data collection, research methodologies, or intelligence-style analysis. Internships and academic research are acceptable.
  • Prior exposure to federal consulting, compliance, or risk assessment work.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze primary and secondary information sources, including corporate records, media reporting, regulatory filings, and other publicly available data.
  • Assess international corporate structures, supply chain linkages, and commercial risk factors.
  • Gather, synthesize, and evaluate data to produce clear, well-supported industry and entity assessments.
  • Conduct open-source research in English and Mandarin Chinese on global supply chains, priority industries, and international commercial activities.
  • Develop research-based recommendations and present analytic findings directly to government clients, including senior leadership.
  • Prepare written reports, briefings, and presentations for federal stakeholders.
  • Monitor geopolitical and economic developments and assess implications for supply chain integrity and international trade risks.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues and interagency partners to support ongoing and ad-hoc projects.
