The Health and Human Services system (HHS) is hiring attorneys to join the Open Records and Data Governance Department in the Legal Services Division of the HHS Office of Chief Counsel (OCC). The attorneys will join the Open Records team, which is responsible for supporting the HHS agencies' compliance with the Texas Public Information Act (PIA). These attorneys perform highly complex (senior-level) legal work that involves communication with requestors and HHS system areas responsible for requested information, reviewing documentation, redacting documents in preparation for release, applying internal policies and procedures, drafting and submitting written briefs to the Office of the Attorney General, escalating issues within OCC, and briefing HHS leadership, when needed. The attorneys work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
