About The Position

Seeking a full-time Laboratory Sciences Research Services Professional to join a research laboratory within the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to projects exploring the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in pulmonary vascular remodeling and the response of the lung vasculature to hypoxia and other injuries, utilizing an array of complementary approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience (for Intermediate Level).
  • Two (2) years professional level research experience (for Senior Level).
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Breed and maintain rodent colonies, including genotyping and record keeping.
  • Perform animal modeling tasks, tissue harvests, cell isolation, flow cytometry, cell culture, molecular based techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR), antibody/protein -based technique (immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and imaging).
  • Preparing common solutions and stocks, placing laboratory orders, and contributing to laboratory compliance.
