About The Position

The Department of Healthcare Leadership and Management at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for the role of Division Director – Master of Health Administration (MHA) Hybrid Track. This is a full-time faculty appointment with administrative responsibilities on the academic educator track (tenure-eligible), with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Division Director serves as the academic and operational leader of MUSC’s MHA program hybrid track, which combines weekly in-person instruction on campus in Charleston, South Carolina on Mondays with structured asynchronous and applied learning activities throughout the remainder of the week. Consistent on-campus presence on Mondays is a core requirement of this role to support instruction, faculty coordination, student engagement, and program administration. This position requires a leader who is instructionally embedded, maintains an active teaching presence, and is directly engaged in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the on-campus hybrid learning experience. The Division Director is responsible for ensuring seamless integration between face-to-face and online components of the curriculum, fostering a cohesive and high-quality student experience aligned with competency-based education principles. Working collaboratively with the MHA Online Division Director, the Department Chair, and MHA faculty, the Division Director ensures alignment of program learning outcomes across delivery modalities while maintaining clear distinction in pedagogy, student support, and operational execution for the hybrid track. The role includes oversight of curriculum implementation, faculty mentorship, student success initiatives, and compliance with CAHME accreditation standards, as well as representation of the MHA program within the university and the broader healthcare leadership community. Candidates should reside in or be willing to relocate to the Charleston, SC area, or otherwise demonstrate the ability to reliably meet weekly on-campus obligations. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Healthcare Administration/Management, Business Administration/Management (with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Healthcare Administration/Management), Health Services Management, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience in a Healthcare Administration program in higher education.
  • Demonstrated potential to contribute to research and grant activities in Healthcare Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and operational leadership for the Hybrid Master of Health Administration (MHA) program track, ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, faculty engagement, and student outcomes.
  • Maintain a consistent on-campus presence in Charleston, SC, on Mondays to deliver in-person instruction, support faculty, engage with students, and oversee the execution of the hybrid learning model.
  • Serve as the primary leader responsible for the design, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Monday on-campus instructional experience, ensuring intentional integration with asynchronous and applied learning activities conducted throughout the week.
  • Maintain an active teaching role within the hybrid MHA program track, contributing to high-quality instruction and modeling effective hybrid pedagogy.
  • Provide co-oversight of MHA curriculum implementation, ensuring alignment with program learning outcomes, competency-based education principles, and CAHME accreditation standards.
  • Lead program-level assessment, outcomes evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts for the hybrid track, including use of direct and indirect measures of student learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure course-level learning outcomes, instructional strategies, and assessments are appropriately aligned across in-person and online components.
  • Mentor and support faculty teaching in the hybrid MHA program track, with particular attention to effective hybrid instructional practices and student engagement strategies.
  • Foster a student-centered learning environment through direct interaction with students, proactive academic leadership, and coordination of student support initiatives.
  • Address student concerns related to the hybrid program structure, academic progression, and learning experience in collaboration with departmental and college partners.
  • Work closely with the MHA Online Division Director to ensure consistency in program learning outcomes and standards while maintaining clear differentiation in delivery, pedagogy, and student experience between hybrid and online formats.
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair, fellow Division Directors, and college leadership to support departmental priorities, strategic initiatives, and resource planning.
  • Represent the hybrid track MHA program at university events, professional conferences, accreditation activities, and healthcare industry engagements.
  • Support program recruitment, outreach, and relationship-building efforts by articulating the value and structure of MUSC’s hybrid MHA model to prospective students and external stakeholders.
