About The Position

The Department of Neurosurgery currently seeks a medical neuro-oncologist at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Practice level to serve as a medical neuro-oncologist within our newly minted Brain Tumor Center. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include teaching, clinical, research, and service responsibilities. Medical Neuro-Oncology works closely with a multi-disciplinary team including neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, neuropathologists, and neuroradiologists to create a comprehensive treatment plan unique to each individual patient, taking into account the patient’s and family’s needs while providing state-of-the-art care and access to new developments and appropriate clinical trials. Neuro-Oncology patients are additionally supported by the availability of dietician, social work, physical medicine, and neuropsychological services.

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Completed fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology or documented longstanding care
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date
  • Eligible for Neuro-oncology board certification or Neuro-oncology Board Certified
  • A record of ongoing research activity and funding (Required for Associate Professor and Professor)
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor level in the School of Medicine (Required for Associate Professor)
  • Neuro-oncology Board Certified (Required for Professor)
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Professor level in the School of Medicine (Required for Professor)

Responsibilities

  • Acute and chronic outpatient care of Neuro-Oncology patients including administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care.
  • Inpatient consultations for acute or chronic Neuro-Oncology patients in the University of Colorado Hospital with attendant documentation for these consults, which will include monitoring patients for adverse events related to therapeutics.
  • Participation in clinical trials with expectation of completing and maintaining research trainings.
  • Provide supervision and training for advanced practice providers, medical students, residents, and fellows in clinics and in the hospital setting.
  • Support, share, attend and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, other faculty and advanced practice providers, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents and fellows; which will include presenting lectures to patients and others in regards to neurological conditions and treatments.
  • Data entry into hospital systems, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission.
  • Ongoing CME is required.
