About The Position

This position will provide clinical care for patients with movement disorder (ataxia, chorea, dystonia, Huntington disease, metabolic movement disorders (such as neurotransmitter disorders or glut-1 transporter deficiency syndrome), myoclonus, rigidity, and parkinsonism) as well as general neurological disorders. The position will include clinical, research, service and teaching. Clinical responsibilities include participation in the outpatient specialty clinic, the outpatient general neurology clinic, and call (a mix of inpatient and outpatient call).

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic
  • Board Eligibility in Neurology with a Special Competence in Child Neurology
  • Training in movement disorders or sufficient clinical experience to allow for specialization
  • DEA certificate
  • Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License
  • 0-6 years of clinical experience, interest in pursuing academic promotion (for Assistant Professor)
  • 6 or more years of clinical experience (for Associate Professor)
  • Prior experience with program development, teaching or research (for Associate Professor)
  • Examples of scholarship (for Associate Professor)
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certified in Neurology with a Special Competence in Child Neurology.
  • Current DEA
  • Experience with patients with movement disorders is preferred.
  • Willing to collaborate with the medical team to provide the highest quality of care to patients and their families.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat patients with neurological diagnoses.
  • Knowledge and desire to specialize in movement disorders diagnoses and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Outpatient evaluation of children with Neurological Disorders
  • On-going follow-up care both in clinic and by phone, for neurology patients
  • Participation in the Tic, Tone and Tremor Clinic
  • Participation in Complex Movement Clinic
  • Participation in attending coverage of inpatient neurology consult service
  • Development of a Deep brain stimulator program
  • Collaboration with rehab medicine for the management of complex movement disorders associated with cerebral palsy
  • Collaboration of patient care with staff neurologists as appropriate
  • Teaching clinical care concepts to NP’s, PA’s, Residents and RNs.
