About The Position

Join UF Health as an Outpatient Level 2 Pharmacy Technician supporting our prior authorization and medication access efforts. This position supports medication access efforts across outpatient pharmacy services by assisting with prior authorizations and related patient support activities. Responsibilities include reviewing insurance requirements, submitting and tracking prior authorization requests, communicating with providers and payors, and helping ensure timely access to medications for patients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience working in outpatient or prior authorization pharmacy environments. Experience with insurance navigation, prior authorizations, and electronic medical records is preferred. Requirements

  • Must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Must have CPhT or XCPT technician certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 1, including required competencies.
  • 12 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, fax machine, and computer workstation.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.
  • Must be accessible by telephone, requiring each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department staff assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience and one of the following: Two years hospital/institutional pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships.
  • Experience managing projects preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Some knowledge of insurance and billing regarding ambulatory practices highly desired.
