About The Position

The Onsite Medical Assistant is a senior level team member responsible for performing many aspects of the occupational health center's services. The company supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally, providing training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions. This role is vital to the Occupational Health Services (OHS) program and may involve performing other technician duties as requested by management to ensure safe and effective medical services to customers.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL required

  • Must be able to adapt to work in varied environments and learn detailed procedures
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions
  • Cross-train and assist other departments as necessary
  • Willingness to work at different locations if the company need arises
  • Flexibility to work beyond scheduled shift time when necessary to take care of patient needs
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Current full unrestricted certification
  • Computer skills including electronic medical records
  • Must be able to fully pass all job site verification requirements including but not limited to background check, drug screening, and safety examinations

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of occupational medicine or equivalent experience
  • General organizational skills
  • Advanced credentials preferred
  • CDL license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment, including x-ray machines, medical tools, respirator fit machines, pulmonary function machines, audiometry machines, functional capacity machines, and breath alcohol machines.
  • Calibrate all equipment daily/monthly and as needed according to manufacturer's requirements.
  • Conduct periodic surveys of equipment and stations to identify and correct safety and hygiene hazards.
  • Complete all administrative steps for equipment, ensuring verification and proper recording of required information.
  • Administer respirator fit tests in compliance with CFR 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Standard.
  • Disinfect and inspect each respirator after each test.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to questions, concerns, and requests professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure all customer data and paperwork are kept confidential.
  • Facilitate medical patient's vital signs, triage, and room placement.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant safety topics, software, lectures, and online training technology.
  • Attend and pass certifying courses in NIOSH and CAOCH.
  • Attend and pass required drug and alcohol testing courses; test patients as needed.
  • Maintain flawless personal drug testing procedures and undergo remediation if errors occur.
  • Respond to after-hour calls as needed.
  • Communicate promptly with the radiology vendor for quick x-ray reporting.
  • Facilitate State Radiologic inspections (x-ray technicians only).
  • Assist with patient check-in/check-out procedures when requested.
  • Contribute to team effort by assisting with additional duties as assigned.
  • Safely operate CDL-class vehicles to transport mobile units and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs and submit weekly.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and ensure compliance with DOT safety standards.
