About The Position

Performs cleaning, organizing and other housekeeping functions on buildings, equipment, facilities, and grounds. Responsible for the care and upkeep of buildings and grounds for the entire community. This position involves alternating between working indoors in a controlled climate and outdoors with variable climate and lighting. The role requires the ability to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods, manage multiple assignments with frequent interruptions, and remain focused and cheerful under pressure. Safety, health, and environmental concerns must be monitored.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in general grounds or buildings maintenance.
  • General knowledge of drywall repair, painting, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry trades.
  • Must be able to operate tools and equipment related to facility maintenance.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
  • Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice.
  • Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.
  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.
  • Must be mentally alert, detail oriented, and have good reasoning skills.
  • Must be able to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays.
  • Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
  • Must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

  • Technical background from university or vocational sources a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to homeowners, residents, and staff.
  • Responsible for the care and upkeep of buildings and grounds for the entire community.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as taking out trash, tidying, rearranging furniture, wiping surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, and daily cleaning and sanitizing of all bathroom facilities.
  • Restocks necessary items like soap and paper products.
  • Cleans mirrors and windows as needed.
  • Monitors contractors to ensure they follow building policies and guidelines.
  • Walks around the exterior of the facility daily to identify conditions needing attention or maintenance, including janitorial, maintenance, and landscaping needs.
  • Performs basic maintenance work and minor repairs such as replacing broken switches, repairing door handles, replacing lightbulbs, drywall work, and painting.
  • Reports major damages to management and may oversee repairs.
  • Undertakes occasional seasonal tasks like shoveling snow.
  • Complies with all safety procedures and requirements.
  • Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records for all materials used on the property.
  • Performs other tasks as requested.
