About The Position

LabCorp is seeking an Onsite Lab Support Clerk to join their team in LaPorte, Indiana. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, communicating with client office staff, troubleshooting customer and specimen issues, meeting production goals, and accurately entering patient information. The position also requires identifying and labeling specimens, packing and shipping them, and performing special services like spinning, freezing, and splitting specimens as needed. The Hospital Reference Test Clerk will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment located onsite with one of their client offices. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year or more experience in laboratory or accessioning or production or manufacturing
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualify for medical or religious accommodations.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more of medical or patient facing healthcare experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Communicate effectively with client office staff
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
  • Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client
  • Performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry
