About The Position

DeVry University is seeking industry professionals to teach and share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students in cloud computing. Courses are eight weeks long and meet once or twice a week, blending face-to-face interaction with technology for an enhanced learning environment. Faculty are responsible for facilitating student learning, developing course syllabi and lesson plans, and applying teaching techniques to achieve course objectives. All instructors will participate in comprehensive faculty training and ongoing development activities.

Requirements

  • A doctorate in Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely related field is required, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in cloud computing, distributed systems, networking, cybersecurity, or a related computing discipline.
  • Applicants must upload unofficial graduate-level transcripts with their application.
  • Degrees must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or by an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation.
  • Three to five years of applied professional experience in cloud computing, distributed infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud-native technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud architecture and cloud-enabled software development, including infrastructure provisioning, containerization, and deployment of applications within cloud platforms.
  • Industry-recognized certifications or professional credentials relevant to cloud computing, cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps practices.
  • Strong subject matter expertise in cloud technologies, combined with effective communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of secure and responsible cloud operations, including identity and access management, data protection, regulatory considerations, and cloud security best practices.
  • Additional requirements driven by state licensing, institutional policy, or accreditation standards may apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications in cloud platforms or cloud architecture (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent industry-recognized credentials).
  • Experience with cloud-native development practices, including containerization, microservices architecture, serverless computing, and orchestration technologies.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps frameworks, including continuous integration, continuous delivery pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated security practices.
  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including workload migration, cloud cost management, and cloud governance.
  • Experience with programmatic or regional accreditation processes, including outcomes assessment, curriculum mapping, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Active membership or engagement in professional technology or cloud-related organizations to maintain current industry knowledge.
  • Experience integrating cloud-based laboratories, virtualized environments, or platform-based learning environments into post-secondary instruction to support hands-on learning.
  • Two to five years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level, preferably in cloud computing, networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, or software development.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
