About The Position

QUT Online delivers world-class learning through degrees specifically designed for the online student. Each degree is tailored to provide opportunities for students who are often unable to undertake university studies on campus. At QUT Online, the student is at the forefront of everything we do. This role is an opportunity to support and guide our students through their learning journey. Our Online Learning Advisers (OLAs) are the subject matter experts who facilitate the student’s learning, with a focus on helping them achieve their goals. We are seeking an experienced software development professional to support postgraduate students studying software engineering, object-oriented design, and modern web application development. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer, software engineer, technical lead, or solutions architect with current industry experience and strong coding capabilities in object-oriented programming and Python. Experience with technologies such as Python, Flask, MySQL, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and Bootstrap is highly regarded, as is previous teaching, training, mentoring, or online facilitation experience. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, along with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Experience with technologies such as Python, Flask, MySQL, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and Bootstrap
  • Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or online facilitation experience
  • Experience reviewing other developers' code and giving feedback on it
  • Experience assessing live code demonstrations or technical interviews
  • Teaching or studying in an online environment
  • Prior teaching or mentoring experience

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate learning activities that engage and retain students
  • Mark assessments and provide meaningful, constructive feedback
  • Support communication through discussion boards, emails, and live sessions – ensuring visibility to students every 24-48 hours
  • Collaborate with academic teams to maintain unit quality
  • Uphold OES values to foster a positive team culture and student experience
