About The Position

The Online Grocery Pick-Up Clerk, also referred to as an In-Store Grocery Shopper, selects and gathers products for customers’ online orders efficiently while ensuring freshness and quality. The role includes assembling orders, processing coupons and payments, communicating substitutions or exceptions, and delivering orders to customers’ cars at store pickup. The clerk provides a positive customer service experience and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position works cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, follows applicable laws and food-safety procedures, and maintains accurate, organized, and clean order staging areas and equipment. The clerk may assist with training new e-Commerce team members and must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Ability to work without supervision.
Ability to read shelf tags.
Basic math skills, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities

Select and gather products for online orders efficiently, ensuring product freshness and quality.
Initiate and complete the selection process for customers’ online orders.
Assemble orders, process coupons and payments, and deliver and load orders into customers’ cars at pickup.
Scan and bag orders while following bagging standards.
Communicate substitutions or order exceptions to customers at pickup and follow procedures for appropriate substitutions when items are out of stock.
Meet or exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, and cleanliness.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, food-safety procedures, and company guidelines.
Receive orders from the Order Selector according to guidelines and store products in appropriate temperature zones.
Read and follow directions in order notes.
Communicate with customers using a portable phone and respond professionally and promptly.
Retrieve orders from staging locations, verify accuracy, and load orders into customers’ cars.
Process orders through the point-of-sale system.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of staging areas and equipment.
Report pricing, scanning, item-location, and invalid-temperature-type discrepancies to the store e-Commerce supervisor.
Inspect equipment and notify the store Pick-Up supervisor or other store management about items requiring repair.
Perform required opening and closing procedures.
Assist in training new e-Commerce team members.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and collaboratively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity; follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
