About The Position

The Online Grocery Pick-Up Clerk, also referred to as an In-Store Grocery Shopper, selects and gathers products for customers’ online orders efficiently while maintaining attention to freshness and quality. The role includes assembling orders, processing coupons and payments, communicating substitutions or exceptions, and delivering and loading orders into customers’ cars at pick-up. The clerk provides a positive customer service experience and demonstrates respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

Ability to work without supervision.
Ability to read shelf tags.
Basic math skills, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Initiate and complete the selection process for customers’ online orders.
Select products efficiently while ensuring item quality and freshness, and follow directions in order notes.
Receive orders from the Order Selector according to guidelines and store products in optimal temperature zones.
Scan and bag orders while following bagging standards.
Assemble orders, process coupons and payments through the point-of-sale system, and communicate substitutions or exceptions to customers at pick-up.
Communicate with customers by portable phone and respond to calls professionally and promptly.
Retrieve each customer’s order from staging locations, verify order accuracy, and load it into the customer’s car.
Meet or exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, and cleanliness.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, food safety procedures, and company guidelines.
Apply policies and procedures to determine appropriate substitutions for out-of-stock items.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of staging areas and equipment.
Report pricing, scanning, item-location, and invalid-temperature-type discrepancies to the store e-Commerce supervisor.
Inspect equipment and notify the Pick-Up supervisor or other store management when repairs are needed.
Perform required opening and closing procedures.
Assist in training new e-Commerce team members and meet or exceed productivity standards.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity; follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
