About The Position

The Online Grocery Pick-Up Clerk, also referred to as an In-Store Grocery Shopper, selects and gathers products for customers’ online orders while ensuring freshness, quality, and efficient fulfillment. The role includes assembling and processing orders, communicating about substitutions or exceptions, and delivering orders to customers’ vehicles at store pickup. The clerk provides a positive customer service experience and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position requires following food-safety procedures, applicable laws, and company guidelines; maintaining organized staging areas and equipment; meeting productivity standards; and cooperating effectively in a fast-paced environment. The clerk may also assist with training new e-Commerce team members and support customers including minors, people with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements

Ability to work without supervision.
Ability to read shelf tags.
Basic math skills, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities

Select and gather products for customers’ online orders efficiently, ensuring freshness and quality.
Initiate and complete the selection process for online orders.
Assemble orders, process coupons and payments, and deliver and load orders into customers’ cars at pickup.
Scan and bag orders while following bagging standards.
Communicate substitutions and order exceptions to customers at pickup, and follow policies for choosing substitutions when items are out of stock.
Meet or exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, and cleanliness.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, food-safety procedures, and company guidelines.
Receive orders from the Order Selector according to guidelines and store products in optimal temperature zones.
Read and follow directions in order notes.
Communicate with customers via a portable phone and respond professionally and promptly.
Retrieve orders from staging locations, verify accuracy, and load them into customers’ vehicles.
Process orders through the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of staging areas and equipment.
Report pricing, scanning, item-location, and invalid-temperature-type discrepancies to the store e-Commerce supervisor.
Inspect equipment and notify the Pick-Up supervisor or other store management about items needing repair.
Perform required opening and closing procedures.
Assist in training new e-Commerce team members.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
