About The Position

The Online Grocery Pick-Up Clerk, also referred to as an In-Store Grocery Shopper, selects and gathers products for customers’ online orders efficiently while ensuring freshness and quality. The clerk assembles orders, processes coupons and payments, and retrieves and loads orders into customers’ cars when they arrive for pickup. The role provides a positive customer service experience and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position works with the e-Commerce team to ensure order accuracy, manage substitutions and exceptions, follow food safety and bagging standards, and maintain clean, organized staging areas and equipment. The clerk also communicates with customers, meets productivity standards, follows applicable laws and company procedures, and assists with training new team members.

Requirements

Ability to work without supervision.

Basic math skills, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities

Select and gather products for customers’ online orders efficiently, with attention to freshness and quality.
Initiate and complete the selection process for online orders.
Assemble orders, process coupons and payments, and deliver and load orders into customers’ cars at pickup.
Scan and bag orders while following bagging standards.
Communicate substitutions or order exceptions to customers at pickup and follow substitution policies when items are out of stock.
Meet or exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, and cleanliness.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, food safety procedures, company guidelines, and directions in order notes.
Receive customers’ orders from the Order Selector and store products in appropriate temperature zones.
Communicate with customers by portable phone and respond professionally and promptly.
Retrieve orders from staging locations, verify accuracy, and load orders into customers’ cars.
Process orders through the point-of-sale system.
Maintain organized and clean staging areas and equipment.
Report pricing, scanning, item-location, and invalid-temperature-type discrepancies to the store e-Commerce supervisor.
Inspect equipment and report repair needs to the store Pick-Up supervisor or other store management.
Perform required opening and closing procedures.
Assist in training new e-Commerce team members.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.

Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
