About The Position

The Online Grocery Pick-Up Clerk, also described as an In-Store Grocery Shopper, selects and gathers products for customers’ online orders with attention to efficiency, freshness, and quality. The role assembles and processes orders, including coupons and payment, and retrieves, delivers, and loads orders into customers’ cars at pickup. The clerk communicates with customers about substitutions or order exceptions and provides a positive service experience that encourages customers to return to online shopping. The position follows food-safety procedures, applicable laws, and company guidelines; maintains organized staging areas and equipment; and meets productivity standards. It also includes opening and closing procedures, assisting with training new e-Commerce team members, and supporting customers including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. The role requires cooperation in a fast-paced environment, sound conflict management, and honesty when handling customer and business information.

Requirements

Ability to work without supervision.

Responsibilities

Select and gather products for customers’ online orders efficiently, ensuring quality and freshness.
Initiate and complete the order-selection process, following customer notes and directions.
Receive orders from the Order Selector according to guidelines and store products in appropriate temperature zones.
Scan and bag orders while following bagging standards.
Assemble orders, process coupons and payments through the point-of-sale system, and deliver and load orders into customers’ cars.
Communicate substitutions or order exceptions to customers at pickup and respond professionally and promptly to calls using a portable phone.
Retrieve each customer’s order from staging locations and verify its accuracy.
Follow policies and procedures to determine appropriate substitutions for out-of-stock items.
Meet or exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, and cleanliness.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, food-safety procedures, and company guidelines.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of staging areas and equipment.
Report pricing, scanning, item-location, and temperature-type discrepancies to the store e-Commerce supervisor.
Inspect equipment and notify the store Pick-Up supervisor or other store management when repairs are needed.
Perform required opening and closing procedures.
Assist in training new e-Commerce team members.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
