About The Position

The Online Career Services Advisor's primary role is to assist graduates in finding employment related to their training by actively seeking career placement opportunities and maintaining contact with employers. This position is crucial for Valley College to achieve its placement goals and also contributes to gathering data for compliance and accreditation reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or at least two years of appropriate work experience.
  • Sales experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills necessary for oral presentations to students and employers.
  • Data entry skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Strive to reach and/or exceed placement percentage benchmarks and goals set by accreditation and or state agencies.
  • Conduct (one-on-one or small group) student information career planning sessions to determine interests, capabilities and commitment.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with prospective employers, graduates and students either in person(where geographically feasible), by telephone, electronic mail or Social Media.
  • Establish new employer partnerships in distance markets where Valley College graduates reside.
  • Provide career-based guidance, support, and direction to students and graduates, either in person (where geographically viable), by telephone, electronic mail or Social Media.
  • Provide classroom support by presenting information regarding filling out applications, resumes, and interviews and other essential job search activities.
  • Facilitate Mock Interviews both in person and via video conferencing.
  • Work with graduates to gather properly documented testimonials, including quotes and photographs when applicable, to provide to management.
  • Work with graduates to encourage certification in industry-specific areas.
  • Take an active role in student orientation, high school visits (programs) and job/college fairs.
  • Take an active role in public relations efforts such as open houses, graduations, Program Advisory Committee meetings, chamber and community events, etc.
  • Assist Online Campus Leadership with the ongoing research and development of professional development and job search tools, which could include live and recorded videos, in the Community Resource Room.
  • In conjunction with the ground campuses or through video conference, schedule and arrangement tours, seminars, guest speakers and/or student meetings.
  • Work with online staff and administrative personnel to keep attrition low and improve retention.
  • Maintain and organize placement files for each student. This includes both paper copies and entering data in the Student Management System.
  • Distribute and collect employment verification forms; perform QC checks (quality control) for accuracy and completion.
  • Submit documentation to the Director of Career Services Director for approval.
  • Distribute, collect and tally results for Employer Satisfaction Surveys.
  • Provide current and accurate daily, weekly and/or monthly internal informational reports, as requested.
  • Support Campus Director and campus operators as requested and including reporting not limited to IAIA, PAC and Operation meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
