About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of Churches of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. The role reports to the Dean for Academics of the College of Business Administration and the Dean of the College of Leadership and Professional Studies. The responsibilities include designing, reviewing, and approving program curriculum, developing policies and procedures, hiring, evaluating, and supervising program faculty, managing student affairs, maintaining curriculum alignment with university and accreditation standards, and engaging in an ongoing research agenda. The position also involves overseeing and ensuring compliance with program accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • PhD, DBA or other terminal degree in Business Administration or a closely related discipline.
  • Evidence of quality research completed in the last ten years [e.g., publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, program evaluation reports, etc.].
  • Instructional experience and working in a team environment, including in an online environment preferred.
  • Computer literate in software and internet-based applications.
  • Proficient in APA style.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to view and manage roles and responsibilities in relation to the larger mission, goals, and perspective of the University.
  • Collaborative nature, with the ability to build consensus.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and solves problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate and reasonable.
  • Capacity to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty, and staff.
  • Access to a reliable internet connection.
  • Must be a professing Christian and willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.

Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and approve program curriculum and develop policies and procedures to support the program’s mission, goals, and outcomes.
  • In conjunction with the COBA Dean for Academics, hire, evaluate and supervise all program faculty.
  • Serve on the program faculty.
  • Manage student affairs for program students.
  • Maintain program curriculum alignment with university, college, and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in an ongoing research agenda.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with program accreditation standards.
  • Lead program and faculty meetings including Program and Curriculum Committee meetings.
  • Represent program proposals and interests in Academic Council meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with Registration Operations regarding curriculum updates.
  • Prepare advertisements for faculty job postings.
  • Interview all applicants and facilitate hiring committee meetings.
  • Perform regular University, college, and program evaluations on all faculty.
  • Provide faculty with scheduled feedback about their performance.
  • Teach a course load consistent with the ACU Dallas Faculty Handbook.
  • Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical.
  • Engage in andragogically sound teaching methods designed for an adult learner.
  • Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University’s Handbook, Faculty Handbook, and those specified by ACU’s Colleges and the Programs.
  • Redesign 1 course per year.
  • Review requests for transfer credit.
  • Review new student applications for compliance with admission requirements.
  • Prepare Outcomes Assessment Report.
  • Participate in the university's program review process and program strategic planning.
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing research agenda in the context of the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of trends and information pertaining to the program field through current practice, professional reading, active research and/or continuing education.
  • Participate in scholarly activities designed to maintain credentialing in the field of study.
  • Maintain student-facing and University-facing accreditation requirements.
  • Provide accurate and transparent information about the program to the public.
  • Apply and integrate accreditation standards into the program curriculum and policies and procedures.
