One to One Paraprofessional - [Curley] (SY26-27)

Boston Public Schools•Boston, MA
•Onsite

About The Position

Under the supervision of a teacher, the One-to-One Paraprofessional provides direct support to an individual student and participates in the daily instruction and activities of the assigned school, program, and class. Duties beyond typical classroom activities are tailored to the student's needs. Students may have a range of disabilities or diagnoses, may speak a language other than English, and may be assigned to any school in the district, including examination schools, where they may participate in advanced coursework. The paraprofessional collaborates with the classroom teacher to carry out activities reflected in daily lesson plans, fosters communication with parents and staff, and performs related duties as requested by the Head of School, Principal, or school-based Special Education Administrator, particularly when the student is absent. Depending on the student's needs, the role may involve personal care, instructional support, communication systems, behavioral support, and physical assistance. In some cases, the position may require a specific gender because of toileting duties or the student's individual history, to protect both the student and the paraprofessional. This position is covered by the BTU Paraprofessional Unit and paid at a contractual hourly rate. BPS school start and end times and school-day lengths vary; some schools have longer days under the Schedule A Expanded Learning Time agreement.
