Requirements

  • High school graduates with one year of advanced training in medical terminology or its equivalent.
  • Prior administrative/clerical experience in an outpatient oncology or Infusion setting required.
  • Minimum One year of clerical and/or patient registration experience required.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (Microsoft Office).
  • Must have exceptional customer service and ability to multi-task.
  • Candidates must enjoy working in a very busy environment.
  • Stands, walks, and sits intermittently.
  • Considerable mental and visual demands.
  • Considerable mental strength is required to work daily with cancer patients.
  • Physical movement such as reaching and bending is also required.
  • Works in a clean, well-lit, heated or ventilated facility.
  • No routine exposure to hazards.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Cadence scheduling experience preferred.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various clerical tasks providing customer service in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Acts as a clerk to the Department of Oncology managing patient check in to include insurance verification, initial set-up of triple identification system, setting up future appointments; triaging calls from referring offices, patients, & families; inputting proper documentation into patient’s electronic medical record in the appropriate sections.
  • Providing high levels of customer service to our patients, families, referring offices, and within the department.
