About The Position

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Oncology Survivorship Physician Assistant with our ECCC Cancer Resource Center. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive, specialized care for individuals who are undergoing or have completed active cancer treatment, focusing on long-term health, wellness, and monitoring. The provider will address physical side effects, emotional, social, and practical concerns, while creating personalized, long-term follow-up care plans to manage the risk of recurrence and new cancers. The Survivorship Coordinator will collaborate with all care providers to assist in providing quality of life and survivorship services as well as provide expert knowledge and support as necessary to promote quality care. The provider will have an independent and comprehensive patient-centered Oncology Survivorship clinic located in the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center or other Mountain Health Network facility as needed. They will function within their scope of practice as defined by the West Virginia Board of Nursing or the West Virginia Board of Medicine. They are responsible for continuously maintaining licensure and certifications required to practice in the state of West Virginia.

Requirements

  • ARC-PA program graduate required.
  • Current PA licensure in WV/ NCCPA certified required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive evidence-based survivorship care consistent with guidelines from credible organizations (ASCO, NCI’s Office of Cancer Survivorship) as well as accreditation standards for survivorship (ACOS’ Commission on Cancer and NAPBC), addressing the unique needs of cancer survivors.
  • Conducts cancer surveillance for recurrence or new primaries through appropriate screening, examination, and diagnostic coordination.
  • Assesses and manages long-term and late-term effects of cancer treatment including physical, emotional, cognitive and sexual health concerns.
  • Provides preventative health services and education to survivors (screening, risk assessments, immunizations, etc.), focusing on wellness, nutrition and lifestyle modification after a cancer diagnosis; offers educational support for patients and families, health team members, and the community.
  • Helps develop and maintain departmental and intradepartmental policies, procedures and standards of care for survivorship. Provides regular reporting of program performance metrics.
  • Works with physicians and other providers to effectively transition patients to the survivorship clinic and to back to primary care.
