About The Position

As an Oncology RN, you will effectively collaborate with physicians, other registered nurses, specialized departments, and community resources to provide patients with the education and resources needed to build a comprehensive care plan, particularly at discharge. Every day, you will build trust through compassionate interactions, utilizing your critical thinking skills to recognize that each patient requires a custom care plan tailored to their unique oncology journey. You will actively support patients by identifying and working to remove patient care barriers that could impede their healing and recovery. To be successful in this role, your talent for creative thinking will be vital, shining through as you develop enhanced discharge plans and case management strategies that yield optimal outcomes for each oncology patient.

Requirements

• Associates Of Science Nursing
• Registered Nurse
• TN AHA Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
• Cancer Chemotherapy Provider, within 12 - months

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results).
• Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients’ rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures).
• Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs).
• Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner).
• Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
• Teaching-Coaching Function (assess and evaluates the patient’s readiness and ability to learn, effectively explain a patient’s condition and their interpretation of his or her illness.
