About The Position

Sharp HealthCare is seeking a dedicated Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time position in La Mesa. This role involves providing quality care to the designated patient population, assisting with the leadership of Nursing and Patient Service Representative staff, and serving as a technical nursing expert for Oncology. The position requires a strong understanding of oncology pharmacology, proficient IV skills, and expertise in the care and use of Vascular Access Devices. The RN will also be responsible for accurate patient documentation, triaging messages, providing patient education, and ensuring compliance with infection control policies. Additionally, the role contributes to department efficiency by organizing daily tasks, managing patient flow, and responding effectively to urgent situations. Leadership responsibilities include training and mentoring new staff, acting as a resource, and facilitating inter-departmental cooperation. Medication management and adherence to quality initiatives are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • 1 Year RN experience in related clinical area.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients, staff and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to the designated patient population.

  • In partnership with physician, provides specific educational material and individual teaching.
  • Uses universal precautions and demonstrates knowledge of infection control policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a role model and provides assistance to PSRs in resolving issues related to front desk responsibilities including scheduling and telephone.
  • Fully successful in performing/assisting with all tests and procedures in assigned department.
  • Administers medications safely and accurately per guideline and written order.
  • Participates in clinical projects as directed by the physician or manager.
  • Organizes and completes daily requirements and responsibilities.

  • Able to activate emergency procedure per protocol - code, fire, etc.
  • Documents patient care events in a thorough and accurate manner.
  • Manages and completes AEHR tasks per prescribed time lines.
  • Support and knowledge of new applications and policies: AEHR, Abbreviations, etc.
  • Demonstrate typing skills proficiency by using a keyboard, required to type proficiently and accurately; have the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors; have the ability to proof work.
  • Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements and support of front desk responsibilities.
