POSITION PURPOSE: Clinical pharmacy services to be provided within the Hematology/Medical Oncology Clinic. Those served include recipients and/or the family/caregivers of recipients of chemotherapy for cancer and its complications, as well as providers and nursing staff. The oncology pharmacist provides education regarding the safe and effective use of chemotherapy, both intravenous and oral, and associated medications to the healthcare team, patients and families. The oncology pharmacist facilitates the processing of chemotherapy and other orders for patients served in Cancer Center Infusion. The oncology pharmacist identifies, solves and prevents medication-related problems in the hematology/oncology population. The oncology pharmacist assists department leadership with chemotherapy-related regulatory compliance and financial considerations. The oncology pharmacist, with appropriate competencies completed and maintained, may perform pharmacist duties related to chemotherapy dispensing or other staff pharmacist duties of the Pharmacy Department.
