About The Position

William Osler Health System (Osler) is seeking an Oncology Pharmacist for a temporary, approximately twelve (12) month contract. Osler is a major Ontario hospital system recognized for its commitment to patient safety and provides a safe and supportive health care network. The Oncology Pharmacist will work collaboratively with the Pharmacy and Oncology teams to provide patient-centered care, drug information, clinical review of medication orders, patient education, and supervision of chemotherapy preparation. The position also involves mentoring pharmacy residents, students, and interns, resolving operational issues, supporting oncology clinic operations, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A of the Registry)
  • Knowledge of hazardous sterile compounding, including NAPRA standards
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant clinical experience in oncology preferable
  • Working knowledge of OPIS preferable
  • Working knowledge of Meditech preferable
  • Membership to CAPhO an asset

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Pharmacy and Oncology teams to provide patient-centered care
  • Provide drug information to physicians, nurses and other clinicians to enhance patient care
  • Clinical review and verification of all medication orders for patients in the ambulatory oncology clinic
  • Provide education to patients to promote optimal drug use
  • Mentor Pharmacy residents, students and interns
  • Supervise the preparation of chemotherapy
  • Resolve day-to-day clinical and operational issues
  • Oncology Clinic operations support
  • Participates in oncology program quality improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
