About The Position

Hartford HealthCare is seeking an Oncology Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant to join its growing team at the William W. Backus Hospital Cancer Institute in Willimantic. The role provides value-based care to oncology patients, primarily in outpatient settings, within a certified member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance. The partnership supports collaboration and evidence-based cancer care.

The position is based in an outpatient medical oncology practice, with the opportunity to participate in acute care consultation services. The APP will be part of a supportive, dynamic team and have access to individualized onboarding, educational opportunities, and professional advancement and training through Hartford HealthCare’s relationship with Memorial Sloan Kettering. A Monday–Friday schedule is offered; a four-day, 10-hour schedule may be an option. Generous on-call compensation and flexible coverage periods are available to those interested in on-call work.

Requirements

• Eligibility to be licensed in Connecticut as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
• Eligibility to be certified as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner.
• Oncology experience as a PA, NP, or RN.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of one year of experience practicing as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in triage and outpatient management of cancer patients.
• Conduct urgent visits and chemotherapy pre-treatment visits.
• Provide follow-up appointments and ongoing survivorship care.
• Provide care in an outpatient medical oncology practice, with the opportunity to participate in acute care consultation services.
