About The Position

The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) is responsible and accountable for ensuring adult patients with an oncology diagnosis receive quality and coordinated care from diagnosis throughout survivorship. The ONN is a clinical resource with expertise in oncology care and management. The ONN collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate a patient-centered approach to care as an advocate, interpreter, and educator for patients and caregivers. The ONN serves as a link between the patient/caregiver, the multidisciplinary care team, and services that will be needed, providing individualized education, support, and interventions. As a primary contact for the patients/caregivers and referring providers throughout all phases of the cancer continuum, the ONN provides individualized and expert nursing care.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years oncology nursing required.
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, able to motivate others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to professionally interact with all internal and external customers.
  • Strong service excellence commitment.
  • Excellent patient care skills.
  • Patient and family education experience.
  • Current license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania OR a multi-state license verified in one of the approved states through the Nursing Licensure Compact.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in nursing preferred
  • Current certification in oncology nursing by OCN, CBCN or ONN-CG preferred (or required within two (2) years of hire date)

  • Serving as a link between the patient/caregiver, the multidisciplinary care team, and services that will be needed, providing individualized education, support, and interventions.
  • Providing individualized and expert nursing care as a primary contact for patients/caregivers and referring providers throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.
