This position is a per diem position to provide support to the MGH Cancer Center at Newton Wellesley Hospital. The position is for an Oncology Nurse Navigator with a focus on new breast cancer navigation.

Requirements

Minimum one year experience in an outpatient oncology setting.
Thorough assessment skills and knowledge of Hematology/Oncology disease pathophysiology, acute and chronic side effects of treatment required.
Knowledge and experience in medical oncology nursing required, unless otherwise noted in job posting.
Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or obtained within first year of hire required.
Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Demonstrated clinical competence and experience as required by the specific job posting/specialty area.
Experience in outpatient cancer navigation and breast cancer is required.

Nice To Haves

3 years' experience in ambulatory oncology nursing strongly preferred.
Oncology Nursing Society strongly preferred.
Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

Renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients.
Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
Overses other assigned team members and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide population specific care in accordance with the BORN regulations and professional standards of care.
Uses the nursing process and evidence-based practice to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care.
Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, and co-workers.
Assures quality of nursing practice through participation in performance improvement activities.
Ensures complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
Provides safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
Coordinates and collaborates with other multidisciplinary team members to facilitate a comprehensive educational plan.
