About The Position

Spencer Hospital is seeking a dedicated Oncology Nurse Navigator to join their team. This role is crucial for coordinating care, providing support, and removing barriers for oncology patients throughout their treatment journey. The Navigator will work closely with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure seamless and optimal care. This position is based at the Abben Cancer Center and is a regular, full-time benefit-eligible role.

Requirements

  • Active IA RN license
  • Minimum 1 year oncology experience required
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
  • Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology Nurse Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consistent care coordinator, ensuring timely access and seamless coordination of services throughout the continuum of oncology care.
  • Meet with patients and families to provide emotional support and guidance following the diagnosis of cancer through end state disease if necessary.
  • Provide medical information, education, and share knowledge regarding internal and external support services and resources.
  • Facilitate rapid scheduling, coordinate follow-up care, and track patients to ensure completion of recommended treatment plan.
  • Identify and assist patients and families in eliminating potential barriers to care by identifying and referring to appropriate resources.
  • Be an integral part of and professional member of the Interdisciplinary Team promoting optimal patient care.
  • Serve as the tumor board coordinator, requiring extensive preparation, facilitation during sessions, and submission of detailed documentation to the accreditation panel following each meeting.
