About The Position

Under the direction of the director and assistant director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Oncology Nurse Navigator and Cancer Survivorship Facilitator functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, educator, and counselor for oncology patients. This position serves as a single point of contact for referring physicians, patients, and caregivers to provide resources and assistance with accessing clinical and supportive care services, serving as a clinical resource with expertise in hematology/oncology care management, throughout the continuum of the patient’s cancer journey, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a School of Nursing or equivalent and currently licensed to practice in the State of California.
  • Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
  • State of California RN license required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical experience as an Oncology Nurse Navigator or Cancer Survivorship Facilitator.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as organizational, analytical, and written and presentation skills.
  • 2 years of recent RN experience working with Hematology/Oncology patients as a Patient Navigator.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • OCN certification, or Oncology Nurse Navigator–Certified Generalist (ONN-CG) certification within three years of accepting position.
  • Current OCN or ONN-CG certification, as well as current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy-certification.
