About The Position
The Oncology Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM. The clinic is located at 8700 N Green Hills Rd, Kansas City, MO 64154. This role involves managing patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects. It also requires using quality and evidence-based practice to deliver and improve care, and working closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision. Specific departments may require knowledge of chemotherapy/biotherapy, blood products, or radiation therapies and symptom management. The role also includes triaging patients and coordinating with providers to ensure care needs are met. Requirements
- High School Graduate
- Associate Degree Nursing
- Must complete BSN within 5 years of hire
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing
- Registered Nurse license required for state the clinic is located in, at the time of hire (Kansas or Missouri).
- Must obtain additional state license, to possess both Kansas and Missouri licensing within 6 months of hire.
- Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 3/31/2026.

- Chemo Certification - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification preferred for Infusion/Treatment departments
Responsibilities
- Collects and analyzes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation to determine the diagnosis or issues.
- Performs primary and secondary patient assessments and documents in the medical record accurately and timely.
- Documents changes and omissions of the identified plan.
- Communicates systematic report to other care providers.
- Coordinates care delivery; utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in all aspects of IV therapy and hydration.
- Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
- Evaluates and documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
- Identifies expected interventions and outcomes for an individualized plan of care and communicates effectively with patient, family and other team members.
- Implements the plan of care in a safe, timely and appropriate manner.
- Manages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment.
- Uses quality and evidence based practice to deliver and improve care.
- Works closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills in chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products (Infusion/Treatment Depts).
- Demonstrates knowledge of radiation therapies and procedures, including side effect and symptom management (Radiation Oncology Depts).
- Demonstrates ability to triage patients and coordinate with provider to ensure care needs are met.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
