About The Position

Under the leadership of the department Director and Assistant Director, the Oncology Clinical Trials/Research Nurse Navigator is responsible and accountable for all activities involving the recruitment and enrollment of study subjects and managing the critical study documentation and data collection. This responsibility includes adherence to all Federal, State and Institutional Review Board (IRB) clinical trial regulations and policies. The primary purpose of the Oncology Clinical Trials/Research Nurse navigator is to coordinate patient access to care including, but not limited to, clinical research studies. This position will act as a liaison to any relevant and accredited research organization. As a nurse navigator, the RN will utilize nursing skills to evaluate and report to the Primary Investigator Physician and other healthcare professionals any physical, and/or psychosocial issues and special needs of the cancer patient. Educate patients, families and staff on patient care issues. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge. The nurse navigator is an experienced nurse who shall orient new staff as oriented and assigned. The Nurse Navigator is a liaison to patients/families, referring and specialty physicians, and their office staff. In addition, the Nurse Navigator is directly responsible to the Program Director and the Medical Director.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of oncology, clinical research, critical care, and/or navigation experience required
  • State of California RN license required
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required
  • Must complete a National Institute of Health (NIH) accepted Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training within the first six months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Research Coordinator or Certified Clinical Research Associate certification desired after meeting the requirements to sit for exam
