About The Position

The Onboarding Specialist is an experienced registered nurse, who works with newly hired nurses through their clinical orientation to facilitate and evaluate learning. They will partner to foster safe, competent practice as well as strengthen confidence in the clinical arena while building and facilitating a trusting relationship with teammates, physicians, patients, and families. This role is part-time working 20 hours per week.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of RN experience
Minimum 1 year pediatric/specialty experience
Minimum 1 year training or orienting clinical staff
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment or upon start of clinical shift if working in the Emergency Department (ED)
Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition Stabilization (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association as required by department
Demonstrated competence in critical thinking, interpersonal, and technical skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Self-motivated and directed
Promotes and fosters learning opportunities
Provides timely and actionable feedback
Proficiency in using and navigating technology tools such as electronic medical record Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management System

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Previous mentoring, precepting experience

Responsibilities

Acts as a resource for accessing policies and procedures.
Acts as a resource for accessing available resources (i.e., Vascular Access).
Facilitates completion of the competency checklist.
Serves a super user for various processes or new equipment.
Acts as a resource and assists with the training of equipment, supplies, and instruments.

Individualizes the ‘precepting’ process.
Adapts teaching style to meet new hire’s needs.
Coaches effective communication strategies.
Encourages engagement with interdisciplinary teams in patient care.

Facilitates department-based bootcamps, classes, and skills checks.
Fosters collegial relationships between team members, other departments, and medical staff members.
Supports and maintains a therapeutic and professional environment.
