About The Position

The HB Onboarding Specialist serves as a key contact for cross-functional initiatives, ensuring effective communication and coordination across departments. The role manages special projects from conception to completion, aligning goals with organizational objectives and delivering results on time. It is also responsible for onboarding and training new Patient Account Representatives, including developing and maintaining training materials and standardized processes to ensure a successful onboarding experience. The position requires in-depth knowledge of the full revenue cycle, covering multiple insurance plans, specialties, and payer contracts across five health systems. The specialist identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency and recommends solutions to enhance outcomes. Additionally, the role demands advanced proficiency in navigating and troubleshooting the EPIC EMR for patient accounting, claim status, payment review, and documentation, while ensuring financial integrity and compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in Hospital/Facility billing, with a strong emphasis on problem resolution and resolving complex billing related issues.
  • Demonstrated experience working with EPIC EMR for hospital billing.
  • In-depth understanding of hospital revenue cycle operations, medical billing terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and payer reimbursement methodologies (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Coding basics (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using patient accounting systems (e.g., Epic) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage billing and credit processes for multiple health systems simultaneously is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing hospital billing for multiple health systems.
