About The Position

The On-the-Job Trainer is primarily responsible for preparing new hires on the production floor to gain the knowledge, skillsets, and performance needed to be successful while performing their actual job duties. They will lead and enable a learning environment through strategy and support. This individual needs to be ambitious, organized, highly efficient, and a subject matter expert in their particular area. As an on-the-job trainer, you are the internal mechanism that sets others up for success. The on-the-job trainer will be part of the production team and will be required to build cable harness/CCA assemblies when they are not training other personnel.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years production or quality experience in specific area (i.e. soldering, wires, bonding/coating) (CCA's).
  • A minimum of two (2) years production or quality experience in specific area (i.e. termination/closing, routing) (Cables).
  • Productivity and quality must meet Level 2 performance requirements.
  • Requires a very good understanding of specifications, drawings, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques.
  • Ability to present information to a variety of audiences.
  • Requires good communication and organizational skills and the ability to communicate fluently (verbally and written) in the English language.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • A great attention to detail, the ability to communicate highly technical information, problem solving skills, and providing solutions are required.
  • Ability to work well with others, and participate in team and cell building environments.
  • Requirements may be modified at the time of the opening, and will be based on current labor availability and staffing needs. In these instances, the employee must be able to meet all requirements within 180 days of accepting the position.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all KMM safety policies and procedures, as well as manufacturer recommendations on operation of all equipment and tools.
  • Develop a training checklist that enables the trainee to meet the goals of the company and the customer for 100% quality and delivery.
  • Be flexible to train one-on-one and multiple operators at any given time.
  • Responsible for working with team leads, manufacturing supervisors, and engineering, to evaluate training effectiveness and adjust training as necessary to meet those demands.
  • Must be organized and conduct trainings with confidence while keeping the trainees attention.
  • Ability to deliver trainings in multiple formats to meet trainees needs.
  • Develop others by providing feedback and direction laterally.
  • Weekly report out of structured learning experiences and monitor the operator quality and productivity results.
  • Must be comfortable to receive feedback and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and can work in a busy environment.
  • Need to be flexible with schedule, work hours will be based on business needs.

  • Ability to problem-solve production issues to improve processes and prevent in the future.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Maintain production certifications, J-STD-001, IPC-610 (CCA's).
  • Maintain production certifications, SI&A, and QID (Cables).
  • Assist with LEAN manufacturing by becoming a leader and assisting with the following: Teach, Coach, Mentor, Serve as facilitator for Lean initiatives in their area, Help identify process improvement ideas and identify metrics, Work with KMM Lean Liaisons to compile metrics, Keep their Liaisons & Practitioners informed on projects, Coordinate Lean training for their area.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
