About The Position

SSR Total IT is seeking an experienced IT Engineer to join their Infrastructure & Security Engineering team. This role involves acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients and a key contributor to the team. The engineer will be responsible for the stability, security, and long-term health of client environments, including networks, servers, cloud platforms, and security systems. The position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients to align technology decisions with business outcomes and to grow into architecture and leadership roles within the company. SSR Total IT is a 30-year-established MSP serving over 170 small and mid-sized businesses, 3,000+ end users, and 2,000+ systems across Wisconsin.

Requirements

8+ years supporting IT infrastructure environments
Strong Windows Server / Active Directory experience
Networking fundamentals (VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, switching)
Microsoft 365 / Azure experience
VMware or Hyper-V experience
Strong troubleshooting and client communication skills
Hardware platforms including HP, Dell, Meraki, and Cisco

Nice To Haves

MSP or consulting experience
Veeam / Datto / backup platforms
Security tools (Sentinel One, KnowBe4, Duo, Qualys, Greenbone, etc.)
Certifications (Microsoft, Azure, VMware, Cisco, Security+, etc.)

Responsibilities

Act as the technical leader for assigned client environments
Design, implement, and maintain servers, security, networking, firewalls, backups, and cloud platforms
Support and architect Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
Lead migrations, upgrades, virtualization, and infrastructure projects
Assist Help Desk and NOC teams with escalations
Perform proactive system reviews and recommend improvements
